SW Region Female Sports Cadet of the Year 2005

Cadet Corporal Viv Sherry

Following on from her success of winning "Dorset / Wilts Wing Sports Cadet of the Year 2005" Cdt Cpl Viv Sherry has gone on to win the "SW Region Female Sports Cadet of the Year 2005" award.

After winning four Gold medals at the Region Swimming competition held at RM Lympston in Devon on 1st October, Cpl Sherry was surprised when told she had won the Sports Cadet of the Year Award for South West Region.

Cpl Sherry represents Wing in Swimming, Hockey, Netball and Cross Country. She also represents Region and Corps in the same sports and is the current holder of the Corps backstroke record in Senior Girls swimming.

Cpl Sherry participates in any Corps sport that allows female participation and has gained Corps Blues and medals. Her sports activities extend beyond the ATC as she has County qualifying times and swims 3 times a week for her club; she also teaches swimming and helps coach trampolining. This year Viv also gained her national pool lifeguarding qualification and is currently studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Sport (outdoor education).

Cpl Sherry has also become a regular on the rifle range where she has represented the Squadron at Wing and Corps level to gain a Corps Blue in smallbore rifle shooting.
